Thank you for visiting our CIRMM homepage.
CIRMM was established in April 2000 as the Center for International Research on Micro Mechatronics. With the advent of the Nano era, the name was changed to the Center for International Research on Micro Nano Mechatronics in April 2010, and part of our activities shifted to Nano.

In April 2015, a new bio-medical and MEMS related Centre, called CIBiS was created within the IIS. Approximately half the faculty members of CIBiS are composed of former CIRMM members.

In April 2016, CIRMM was reborn, and its name was changed to "Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Micro-Nano Methods" while keeping the same acronym. Our scope of activity remain global, but new keywords, such as, "Interdisciplinary" and "Methods" were introduced to the name. In April 2021, in addition, CIRMM was renewed as the internal center of IIS, while the main mission has been retained.

The research topic of the new CIRMM is centred around "True Nano", "Cyber Physical Space" and "Fabrication". In all of the three axes, we seek for new break-thorough methods that revolutionise ways of thinking, way of investigation, ways of detection, sorting and fabrication, and ways of implementing functional elements and human friendly devices at the billion or trillion level.

CIRMM will keep close ties with CIBiS, as well as with our French-Japanese Laboratory LIMMS(CNRS IIS UTokyo), European collaborators and Friends the world over. We cordially invite you to scientific collaborations and innovative joint research and development.
